Team All-Sparks History
Our team was created in 2009 by Steve Alaniz and our school mentor Michael Couvillon. Despite the fact that we were working out of a closet in the basement of one of our buildings, we were quite successful our rookie year, earning the rookie all star award which allowed us to attend Nationals in Atlanta.
Our second year we moved to a very spacious, 5,000 square foot, store front in a mall near our school that our sponsors JCPenny was gracious enough to give to us. We
Our Third year, we were settled well in our new shop and were ready for the competition. We made it to the finals at the San Antonio regional and won the Dallas regional, catapulting us to the St. Louis National Championship, where we achieved 16 place out of near 100. After the season was over, we didn’t stop. We CAD-ed and built a fully functional belt-fed revolving t-shirt cannon which we unveiled at our once a year pep rally called “Ranger Day.” Here is a video of our cannon firing for the first time.
Our fourth year, we gained two vital sponsors, Manda Machine and Steeline Enclosures. With their help, we were able to completely CAD our robot with solidworks and get all of our parts laser cut with CNCs. We went two 3 regional, making elimination in all three. In the San Antonio regional, we made it to the quarter finals, and in the Bayou and Dallas regionals, we made it to the semi-finals.
